Airtel
2004లో network management కోసం Ericsson, Nokiaతో; IT requirements కోసం IBMతో Bharti agreements చేసుకుంది.
Competition

Entrepreneur of the Day — Day 11
Sunil Bharti Mittal: building through repeated adaptation
Mittal began with bicycle parts in 1976. When he saw that supplier economics limited scale, he moved into imports. A government ban then ended a successful generator-import business, pushing him to search East Asia for a new opportunity. Push-button telephones became his entry into telecom.
Turning point
Private mobile licensing opened a much larger field. Bharti launched Airtel’s Delhi GSM service in 1995. Later, managed-services agreements with IBM, Ericsson and Nokia allowed Airtel to focus on customers, distribution and commercial execution while specialist partners handled major technology operations.
Setbacks and response
Regulatory shifts, price competition and the difficult early years of African expansion tested the company. The response was not one slogan: it involved revising assumptions, investing in network quality, empowering managers and adapting the operating model to different markets.
Success principle
Build the capacity to recognise transitions, not dependence on one product. A founder’s durable asset is the ability to learn, reallocate effort and choose what the organisation must do itself.
Youth lessons
Treat disruption as information. Link technology to a real customer problem. Protect the core capability, partner intelligently, and admit when expansion assumptions need correction.
Reflective question
If your current model disappeared tomorrow, which capability would still help you build again?
