తెలుగు కథ
ఒక గ్రామంలో ఉద్ధతుడు అనే గాడిద ఉండేది. పగలు అది చాకలి బరువులు మోసేది. రాత్రి యజమాని దాన్ని విడిచిపెట్టగానే, పొలాల వైపు తిరుగుతూ ఆహారం వెతికేది. ఒక రాత్రి దానికి ఒక నక్క పరిచయమైంది. ఇద్దరూ కలిసి దోసకాయల పొలంలోకి వెళ్లి కడుపునిండా తిన్నారు.
చంద్రకాంతి పొలాన్ని వెండి రంగులో ముంచింది. కడుపు నిండిన ఉద్ధతుడికి ఆనందం ఉప్పొంగింది. “ఈ రాత్రి ఎంత అందంగా ఉంది! నేను ఒక పాట పాడాలి,” అన్నాడు.
నక్క భయపడి, “మిత్రమా, మనం దొంగచాటుగా పొలంలోకి వచ్చాం. నీ స్వరం సంగీతమా కాదా అన్నది ఇప్పుడు ముఖ్యం కాదు. అది వినిపిస్తే కాపలాదారు వస్తాడు. నిశ్శబ్దంగా బయటకు వెళ్దాం,” అని చెప్పింది.
కానీ ఉద్ధతుడికి ఆ మాట అవమానంగా అనిపించింది. “నీవు అడవిలో తిరిగే జంతువు. సంగీత రసం నీకు ఎలా తెలుస్తుంది?” అని గర్వంగా అన్నాడు. నక్క మరోసారి హెచ్చరించింది. గాడిద వినలేదు. “అయితే నేను బయట నిలబడి దారిని గమనిస్తాను,” అంటూ నక్క పొలం నుంచి దూరమైంది.
ఉద్ధతుడు మెడ ఎత్తి గట్టిగా అరవడం ప్రారంభించాడు. ఆ శబ్దం విన్న కాపలాదారు పరుగెత్తుకొచ్చాడు. పంటను తిన్న గాడిదను పట్టుకొని శిక్షించి, మళ్లీ వస్తే గుర్తుపట్టేందుకు దాని మెడకు బరువైన గుర్తును కట్టాడు. ఎంతో కష్టంతో బయటకు వచ్చిన ఉద్ధతుడిని నక్క చూసి, “నీ సంగీతానికి బహుమతి కూడా లభించింది కదా!” అని వ్యంగ్యంగా చెప్పింది.
ఆధునిక జీవితంలో కథ
ఈ కథ “పాడకూడదు” అని కాదు; సందర్భం తెలుసుకోకుండా తనను ప్రదర్శించుకోవడం ప్రమాదం అని చెబుతుంది. Meetingలో ప్రతి ఆలోచనను వెంటనే చెప్పడం, confidential సమాచారం social mediaలో పంచుకోవడం, negotiation మధ్యలో ego కోసం unnecessary claim చేయడం—ఇవి గాడిద పాటకు ఆధునిక రూపాలు.
నక్క చెప్పిన సలహా భయంకాదు; situational intelligence. మంచి స్నేహితుడు మన ప్రతిభను అణచివేయడు. సరైన సమయం, సరైన వేదిక, సరైన పరిమితి గుర్తు చేస్తాడు.

ప్రతిభకు వ్యక్తీకరణ అవసరం; వ్యక్తీకరణకు సమయజ్ఞానం అవసరం. సలహాను అవమానంగా భావించినప్పుడు అహంకారం మన బలాన్నే బలహీనతగా మార్చుతుంది.
మీరు ఈ వారం చెప్పదలచుకున్న ఏ మాటకు “ఇప్పుడేనా, ఇక్కడేనా, ఇలా చెప్పాలా?” అని మూడు ప్రశ్నలు అడగాలి?
The Musical Donkey
A washerman’s donkey named Uddhata wandered at night and befriended a jackal. Together they entered a cucumber field and ate well. Under the bright moon, the donkey felt inspired to sing.
The jackal warned him that they were trespassing and that a loud voice would summon the watchman. Uddhata treated the advice as ignorance. The jackal moved outside to keep watch; the donkey brayed loudly. The watchman arrived, punished the animal and tied a heavy marker around its neck. When the donkey finally escaped, the jackal dryly congratulated him on his “reward.”
Modern relevance
The story is not against expression. It is against display without situational judgment: revealing confidential information for attention, speaking merely to dominate a meeting, or making a boast during a delicate negotiation. Wise friends do not suppress talent; they help it find the right time and place.

Talent needs expression, but expression needs timing. When ego hears sound advice as an insult, strength turns into vulnerability.
