Decision ladder
The Brahmin’s Dream
A poor Brahmin stored leftover barley meal in a jar hanging above his cot. As he looked at it, he imagined selling it during a famine, buying goats, then cattle, buffaloes and horses, becoming wealthy, building a house, marrying and having a son.
In the dream, the child crawled near the horses. Angry that his imagined wife did not move the child, he kicked at her—only to strike the real jar. It shattered, covering him in the meal that had been his only actual asset.
Modern relevance
Students, founders and investors often build long chains of assumptions: course to job, launch to users, users to funding, paper gain to permanent wealth. Vision is useful, but an untested possibility is not an achieved result.
🌱 Life Lesson
Dream boldly, but separate what exists from what is merely projected. Break ambition into testable steps, attach evidence to every assumption and never destroy a present asset while acting inside an imagined future.
