దేవవ్రతుని తిరిగిరాక — విద్య నుంచి బాధ్యతకు
నేను దేవవ్రతుణ్ని.
నా బాల్యం సాధారణ రాజకుమారుడి బాల్యం కాదు. నా తల్లి గంగ నన్ను తండ్రి శంతనుడి దగ్గర నుంచి తీసుకెళ్లిన తరువాత, నా ముందున్న జీవితం విద్య, శిక్షణ, క్రమశిక్షణతో నిండిపోయింది. నేను ఎవరి కుమారుడిని అన్నది మాత్రమే కాదు—ఒక రోజు నేను ఏ బాధ్యతను మోయగల వ్యక్తిగా మారాలి అన్నదే నా పెంపకానికి కేంద్రంగా మారింది.
వేదాలు, ధర్మం, రాజనీతి, రాజధర్మం, శాస్త్రజ్ఞానం, ధనుర్విద్య, యుద్ధనైపుణ్యాలు—ప్రతి విద్యను గురువుల వద్ద శ్రద్ధగా అభ్యసించాను. నేర్చుకోవడం అంటే సమాచారం కూడబెట్టడం కాదని, మనసును నియంత్రించడం, నిర్ణయం తీసుకోవడం, బాధ్యతను అర్థం చేసుకోవడం కూడా అని నేను గ్రహించాను.
కాలం గడిచింది. ఒక రోజు తల్లి గంగ నన్ను నా తండ్రి వద్దకు తీసుకెళ్లింది. ఎన్నేళ్ల తరువాత శంతనుడిని చూసిన ఆ క్షణం నాకు మరచిపోలేనిది. నేను చిన్నబిడ్డగా ఆయన నుంచి దూరమయ్యాను; ఇప్పుడు విద్యావంతుడిగా, యుద్ధవిద్యలో నైపుణ్యం పొందిన యువకుడిగా ఆయన ముందున్నాను.
తల్లి నా విద్యాభ్యాసం గురించి తండ్రికి వివరించింది. ఆయన కళ్లలో ఆశ్చర్యం, ఆనందం, తండ్రి ప్రేమ అన్నీ ఒకేసారి కనిపించాయి. నేను కూడా నా మూలాలకు తిరిగి వచ్చిన భావనను అనుభవించాను.
తండ్రి నన్ను హస్తినాపురానికి తీసుకెళ్లాడు. రాజ్యంలోని ప్రజలు నన్ను చూసి సంతోషించారు. కొంతకాలానికి నన్ను యువరాజుగా ప్రకటించారు. ఆ గౌరవం నాకు ఆనందం ఇచ్చినా, దానికంటే ఎక్కువగా ఒక విషయం గుర్తుచేసింది—ఇప్పటి వరకు నేర్చుకున్నది నా కోసం మాత్రమే కాదు; ప్రజల కోసం ఉపయోగించాల్సిన సమయం వచ్చింది.
విద్య మనకు సామర్థ్యాన్ని ఇస్తుంది. కానీ బాధ్యత వచ్చినప్పుడు మాత్రమే ఆ సామర్థ్యం యొక్క నిజమైన విలువ తెలుస్తుంది. ఆ రోజు నుంచి నేను కేవలం గంగ కుమారుడిని లేదా శంతనుడి కుమారుడిని కాదు; హస్తినాపుర భవిష్యత్తుకు బాధ్యత వహించాల్సిన దేవవ్రతుణ్ని.

దేవవ్రతుని ఈ దశ మనకు విద్య నుంచి బాధ్యతకు మార్పు ఎంత ముఖ్యమో చెబుతుంది. డిగ్రీ పొందడం విద్యకు ముగింపు కాదు; నేర్చుకున్నదాన్ని సమాజానికి ఉపయోగపడే విధంగా ప్రయోగించడం అసలు పరీక్ష.
ఒక విద్యార్థి communication skills నేర్చుకుంటే వాటిని ఉద్యోగంలో బాధ్యతాయుతంగా ఉపయోగించాలి. ఒక యువ అధికారి training పూర్తిచేసిన తరువాత ప్రజల సమస్యలను పరిష్కరించడంలో ఆ జ్ఞానాన్ని చూపాలి. కుటుంబ వ్యాపారంలోకి వచ్చే యువకుడు కేవలం వారసత్వం వల్ల నాయకుడు కాలేడు; జ్ఞానం, క్రమశిక్షణ, నిర్ణయ సామర్థ్యం ద్వారా విశ్వాసం సంపాదించాలి. ఒక సంస్థలో promotion వచ్చినప్పుడు designation పెరగడం మాత్రమే కాదు—accountability కూడా పెరుగుతుంది.
సామర్థ్యం మనకు అవకాశం ఇస్తుంది; బాధ్యత మన వ్యక్తిత్వాన్ని పరీక్షిస్తుంది.
🌱 జీవిత పాఠం
నేర్చుకున్న ప్రతి నైపుణ్యానికి ఒక ప్రయోజనం ఉండాలి. మీ విద్యను పదవికి మాత్రమే కాకుండా సేవకు, సమస్య పరిష్కారానికి, మంచి నిర్ణయాలకు ఉపయోగించండి. బాధ్యత వచ్చినప్పుడు సిద్ధంగా ఉండేలా ముందుగానే మీ సామర్థ్యాన్ని పెంచుకోండి.

Devavrata Returns — From Learning to Responsibility
I am Devavrata.
My childhood was not the ordinary childhood of a prince. After my mother Ganga took me away from my father Shantanu, my life became one of disciplined learning and preparation. The question was not merely whose son I was, but what kind of person I needed to become for the responsibilities that awaited me.
I studied the Vedas, dharma, statecraft, royal duties, philosophy, archery and the arts of warfare under accomplished teachers. Gradually I understood that education is not simply the accumulation of knowledge. It also trains the mind to exercise restraint, make judgments and carry responsibility.
Years passed. Then came the day when my mother brought me back to my father. I had left him as an infant; I now stood before him as a trained young man. The reunion was deeply moving. My mother explained the education I had received, and I could see surprise, joy and paternal affection in Shantanu’s eyes.
My father took me to Hastinapura. The people welcomed me, and in due course I was installed as crown prince. The honour pleased me, but it also changed the meaning of everything I had learned. My education could no longer remain a personal achievement. It had to become useful to the kingdom and its people.
Education gives us capability; responsibility reveals what we do with that capability. From that point, I was not merely the son of Ganga or Shantanu. I was Devavrata, expected to carry a part of Hastinapura’s future.
🌱 Human Development Perspective
This stage of Devavrata’s life highlights the transition from learning to responsibility. A degree is not the end of education; the real test begins when knowledge must be applied for others.
A student who learns communication must use it responsibly at work. A young public servant must convert training into better service to citizens. A successor entering a family business cannot rely on inheritance alone; competence, discipline and sound judgment must earn trust. In an organisation, a promotion does not merely raise status—it raises accountability.
Capability creates opportunity; responsibility tests character.
🌱 Life Lesson
Give every skill you learn a purpose. Use education not only to secure a position, but to serve, solve problems and make better decisions. Build capability before responsibility arrives, so that when it does, you are ready.
